Scantland, Lady Tigers lead Phoenix Invitational

MT. JULIET, Tenn. — Campbellsville shot a 311 today on day one of the Cumberland University Phoenix Invitational at the Windtree Golf Course and leads the tournament by 16 strokes.

The Lady Tigers lead Trevecca by 16 shots and host Cumberland University by 32 in the nine-team field.

Cassidy Scantland, a junior from Greensburg, Ky., fired a two-over-par 74 to lead all individuals. She is ahead of Trevecca's Kaylon King (75) by a shot and teammate Ann-Marie Hyatt (T3), who shot a 76, by two.

In addition to Scantland and Hyatt, Campbellsville had two other golfers in the top 10. Freshman Michaela Jarman (T6) shot an 80 and junior Ashley Goodin (9) shot 81.

Kylie Withrow (T13), a freshman from Glasgow, Ky., shot 84. Olivia Parrott (T17), playing as an individual, shot 87.

The second round will be held tomorrow.

STANDINGS: Campbellsville, 311; Trevecca, 327; Indiana Tech, 329; Cumberland University, 343; Bethel (Ind.), 350; Bryan, 370; Indiana Wesleyan, 379; and Augustana (Ill.) College, 381. Asbury played, but did not post a team score.
