Ketchen's walk-off home run leads Tigers past WVU Tech

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Cameron Ketchen delivered a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to complete the Tiger baseball comeback over West Virginia Tech, 8-5.

Riley Joyce reached on a walk and was pushed to second base with a sac bunt by Nestor LinaresMiguel Solano was intentionally walked to put runners on first and second before Ketchen delivered the walk-off dinger on a 2-1 pitch over the right field fence.

The long ball is the second of the season for Ketchen and the three runs scored pushes his team-leading RBI count to 15. Ketchen and Erickson both went 2-for-5 to lead the Tigers, while Casey Scott picked up two RBI.

Campbellsville (16-9, 2-4 MSC) trailed 5-0 after five innings of play. The Golden Bears (17-6) put a four-spot on the board in the first inning off starting pitcher Irvin Ruiz. But he got off the hook as Campbellsville stayed with the process in the middle innings.

After WVU Tech put up its fifth run in the fourth inning, the Tigers answered in the sixth with a trio of scores.

All three of Campbellsville's runs came around to score after five free passes were allowed by West Virginia Tech's Jayson Sykora. Linares reached on an error, Solano was hit by a pitch and Ketchen walked to load the based with no outs. After an Erickson pop up, Casey Scott walked to score the Tigers first run and was followed with another hit-by-pitch by Mike Castellano to score the second.

Diego Reynoso scored the third run with a fielder's choice.

CU scratched across another run in the eighth after Cody Erickson delivered a one-out double and was scored on an RBI single to left field by Scott.

After recording two quick outs on three pitches in the ninth, the Tigers were down to their last out before Linares delivered his second home run of the season, knotting the game at five.

CU had a chance to win it with two outs, as Erickson delivered a single but pinch runner Nelson Quark was thrown out at home to end the threat.

Jake Pannunzio (2-0) was the fifth Tiger to see action on the mound. He went three innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four. In addition to Ruiz and Pannunzio, Casey CongletonJustin Phillips and Ryan Norrix all saw time on the mound.

Tanner Levine (0-1) was the tough-luck loser for the Golden Bears. He threw 1 2/3 innings, allowing just the one hit to Ketchen.

Campbellsville will now host Indiana University Southeast on Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET at HIG Field.
