Pierce shatters half marathon record, qualifies for NAIA

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Campbellsville saw its first student-athlete qualify for the 2016 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field championships this past Saturday. Brett Pierce qualified for the men's marathon with an NAIA A Standard in half marathon at the Tom King Classic.

Pierce ran the qualifying half marathon in 1:13.24, while beating the NAIA A Standard (1:13.30). That time shattered the former school record of 1:17.39 by over four minutes. This is the first distance runner in the Hilary Lakes era to qualify for the NAIA Track and Field National Championship.

Pierce will now have until May 28th  - the final day of the NAIA Track and Field Championship - to prepare for the marathon.
