Hyatt leads CU after Day 1 of MSC Golf Championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Anna-Marie Hyatt fired a five-over 77 and Lady Tiger golf sits in second place after round one of the Mid-South Conference championship at Bowling Green Country Club.

Round 2 Pairings

Starting on hole No. 10, Hyatt found red numbers on two of her first five holes but fell victim to three bogeys on the back nine. She birdied the par three 13th and par five 14th to go out in 37. On the front nine, Hyatt dropped four shots to fall off the pace with a four-over 40.

Freshman Kylie Withrow and juniors Cassidy Scantland, Ashley Goodin and Olivia Parrott rounded out the Lady Tigers Top 5. Withrow is tied for 11th after an opening round 81 (+9), while Scantland is tied for 14th with an 82 (+10), Goodin is 17th with an 83 (+11) and Parrott is 22nd after an 84 (+12).

Michaela Jarman, playing as an individual, sits in 10th place after an opening round 80 (+8).

Parrott started her round with a birdie on the par four 10th hole but that was only one of three birdies on the round for Campbellsville.

University of the Cumberlands fired 13 birdies in its opening round and has three Patriots in the Top 3 to lead to the team tournament. Constanze Sieker is the lone women's golfer to fire in red numbers with a one-under 71. Sieker led the field with six birdies but did fall victim to a double bogey on the par five fifth.

Kaitlyn Riley and Rachel Pingleton are both tied for second place with matching 75s. Riley holed six birdies while Pingleton found red numbers once.

Outside of Cumberlands, the final six teams in the field had one player shoot in the 70s but St. Catharine College. Campbellsville was led by Hyatt's 77, University of Pikeville is third after Brittany Brophy shot an opening round 79, Lindsey Wilson College is fourth after Courtney Vincent fired a 79, Georgetown College is sixth as Sydney Swingo leads the Tigers with a 78, and St. Catharine is seventh with an 85 from Taylor Ritchie.

The average score for all 40 golfers in the field was 86.33.
