Hyatt, Lady Tigers finish second at MSC Golf Championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Anna-Marie Hyatt made a valiant effort with two birdies coming in on her final nine holes but came up just short of a Mid-South Conference title today at Bowling Green Country Club. Hyatt fired a third round 73 to finish runner-up at the MSC Championship.

Women's Results

The 15th-ranked Lady Tigers finished with a team score of 309 in round three and lost to MSC Tournament Champion University of the Cumberlands by 28 strokes.

Hyatt carded three bogeys and a birdie in her first nine holes (back nine) to go out in 38 but rallied on the final nine. After a bogey on the par five second, Hyatt came right back with a pair of birdies on the third and fourth holes to put a little pressure on Constanze Sieker.

Sieker, a freshman for Cumberlands, double bogeyed the par four eighth allowing Hyatt to pull within one stroke but chipped in for birdie from just off the green to win the 2016 MSC Championship - she was also named the MSC Freshman of the Year.

Hyatt finished the final five holes at even par to card the low round on Day 3.

Michaela Jarman rallied to finish Top 5 with a third round 79. Her even-par 72 in the second round propelled her on to the MSC Second Team and finished at 15-over par.

Kylie Withrow and Cassidy Scantland also finished in the Top 10. Withrow fired consecutive 77s in the second and third rounds to finish at 19-over par and in eighth place. Scantland, the 2014 MSC Freshman and Golfer of the Year and the MSC Champion, feel victim to a 10-over 82 in her first round and was unable to make a comeback. Scantland finished her third round with a 78 to place ninth. With her play over the Fall, Spring and MSC Championship, Scantland picked up her second MSC Golfer of the Year award (see separate story-story to come).

Ashley Goodin (81) and Olivia Parrott (90) round out the Lady Tigers third round scoring to be tied for 14th and tied for 27th, respectively.

Hyatt and Scantland were named First Team All-MSC, while the freshman Jarman picked up second team honors. The All-Conference teams and Golfer of the Year award was based off the Fall, Spring and Championship rounds.

Campbellsville will now await its fate to see if they will receive an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship. The national tournament will be hosted for the second straight year at The Savannah Quarters in Pooler, Ga. on May 17-20.

Campbellsville (938)
Cumberland U. (981)
