ANDERSON, Ind. – Lady Tiger bowling finished their season this weekend, placing 19th in the NAIA Team Championship.Â
The ninth-seeded Lady Tigers received a bye in the first round, and met No. 8 St. Ambrose in the second. CU bowled 204 for the first of their four baker games, but the totals dropped in the next two (149-202, 138-166). Campbellsville finished with a final game of 158 pins, but St. Ambrose's fourth game total of 234 put the Bees on top and moved CU to the second bracket.
The Lady Tigers faced Mid-South Conference foe University of the Cumberlands in their first match Sunday. It took them just three games to collect the win over the Patriots (179-157, 223-192, 198-182). CU averaged exactly 200 pins per game, topping off in game two with a 223 pinfall.
In the second round of play, the Lady Tigers went to four games against No. 15 Lawrence Tech, who had been defeated in the second round by the eventual runner-up, University of Pikeville. The Lady Tigers started on a high with a 213-172 win, but once again suffered a steep drop off for games two and three.
Lawrence Tech capitalized and bowled a 212-pin game to finish the match and knock off Campbellsville. The Lady Tigers finished the tournament in 19th place, the same ranking they had at the end of the regular season.
Robert Morris University took the NAIA team title with a victory over Pikeville.

It was senior Chelsey Stephens' last time out for the Lady Tigers. Coach Jamie Lawrence only coached her during the 2015-2016 season, but regards her leadership and athletic contributions as fundamental to the team's success.
"She takes with her several great accomplishments and the appreciation for helping bring national prominence to the CU Bowling program," said Lawrence.
To finish the 2016 postseason, one more Lady Tiger will advance to the national singles tournament. Sophomore Crystal Land will head to Wichita, Kan. for the XBowl Intercollegiate Singles Championships beginning April 18.
