No. 5 Lady Tigers win twice on Senior Day, 7-3, 3-0

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Lady Tigers sent their seniors home today with a couple of wins over the University of the Cumberlands, running their season mark to 35-7, 19-1 MSC.

CU had to rally from a 3-1 hole in the first game, erupting for a three spot in the fourth to take control in the 7-3 win. In game two, Neely Quint pitched a one-hitter against the Patriots (18-21, 6-16 MSC) to secure the shutout victory.

Campbellsville and Cumberlands will meet again on Sunday, April 10 in a 2 p.m. MSC doubleheader at Veterans Memorial Park. 

GAME 1: Campbellsville 7, Cumberlands 3

Victoria Decker allowed six hits, but walked only one as her teammates rallied for a 7-3 win. Decker, who is now 19-4, struck out four.

Jacqueline Roof was 2-for-4 and two RBIs as Campbellsville's three-run fourth proved to be decisive.

Cumberlands scored one run in the first and two in the second, but was held scoreless the final five at-bats.

The Lady Tigers scored in the first when Roof led off with a double and scored on an error.

In the second CU managed to tie the score at 3-3 on back-to-back singles by Madison Mudd and Roof after Brittany Rippy was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.

Then in the fourth, Rippy was again hit by a pitch and scored on Shelby Ray's single. Two other runs scored on overthrows.

GAME 2: Campbellsville 3, Cumberlands 0

Neely Quint moved her record to 15-3 with a one-hitter.

Her teammates scored solo runs in the first, third and fifth frames.

In the first, Jacqueline Roof walked and scored on Brianna Scott's sacrifice fly.

In the third, Shelby Ray hit a home run and then in the fifth, Rebecca Miller's single scored Roof. Hailey Szpila had CU's only other hit.
