Five Fighting Tigers named NAIA Scholar-Athlete

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The NAIA announced that 312 football student-athletes have been named 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Campbellsville University had five Fighting Tigers pick up the honor.

Seniors Beau Biller, Erik Krivitsky, Eli Mitchell and Caleb Myers were joined by junior Trent Massey.

In order to be nominated by an institution's sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

Carroll College led all institutions with 14 individuals on the list.

Campbellsville has had the best two-year run in program history, winning back-to-back Mid-South Conference West Division titles and earning NAIA Football Championship Series berths.

The NAIA National Championship game is scheduled for today, Saturday, Dec. 19. For the second-consecutive season Marian University, the same team who ended the Fighting Tigers run at a national title, and Southern Oregon do battle in the NAIA Football National Championship, presented by Waste Pro. Kickoff for the 60th annual event is slated for 6:04 p.m. EST at Municipal Stadium. The game will be delivered on ESPN3.
