CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Madison Kennedy netted a goal in the 37th minute and Campbellsville women's soccer was able to hold on late for a 1-0 win over Trinity International on Saturday afternoon.
The goal for Kennedy is the third of the season for the freshman from Owensboro, Ky. after scoring a pair of goals on Wednesday night at Brescia.
The Lady Tigers (6-1) dominated the first half of play, finishing with five shots compared to just one for Trinity International (1-4). The second half was much more even, as the shots were all-square at three apiece.
Goalkeeper Amanda Howard had a rather easy day in goal but CU did have one scare in the second half. After Makena Walker got behind the defense, she attempted to finish top-shelf but Howard made a diving save to her left to keep the Lady Tigers with the advantage. Howard finished the day with just two saves and pushed her career mark of shutouts to 22.
Howard's counterpart, Rebecca Wells allowed the one Kennedy score but finished with five saves for the Trojans.
Campbellsville returns to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. as they travel to Oakland City University. Live stats will be available - http://www.statbroadcast.com/events/statmonitr.php?gid=camp
