MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. — Robert Johnson shot a second-round 75 and Tristan Blevins won medalist honors to lead Campbellsville to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Mid-East Regional championship.
 
Playing at the Robert Trent Jones Schoolmaster Golf Academy, the Tigers finished with a second-round total of 304 – six strokes off its first round score of 298. Campbellsville out-paced the rest of the field by a big margin, defeating Bluefield College by 51 strokes and Belhaven University by 92.
 
Johnson made a solid comeback in his round after opening with a triple bogey seven on the par four first hole. He birdied the seventh before bogeying the eighth and ninth to go out with a four-over 40. Johnson then birdied two holes on the back nine to lead the Tigers with a 75 but finished in sixth place.
 
Blevins and James Higgins also had to work around big numbers, as both had a double bogey in their first nine holes. Blevins was able to come back with a birdie on the back, while Higgins had two birdies on the front and one on the back to shoot 76 and finish in third place.
 
Blevins picks up the first tournament title of his career after firing 73-76 (149) to beat Belhaven's Tyler Schliegle by a stoke (78-72, 150). Schliegle had the low-round of the day, firing an even-par 72.
 
Justin Riffle placed fourth with a 76-77 in his two rounds to finish with 153 strokes. Justin Warman was right behind him to round out the Top 5 but struggled in his second round, going 74-80.
 
Campbellsville now earns the automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championship at The Hombre in Panama City Beach, Fla. in October.
 
The Tigers will tee it up in the Mid-South Conference Fall Championship at Windtree Golf Club in Mt. Juliet, Tenn. Live stats will be available every three holes on GolfStat.
