CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The 14
th-ranked Lady Tiger soccer team took one on the chin tonight, as Taylor University extended its undefeated record to 7-0 with a 1-nil win over Campbellsville.
The Trojans picked up the games lone goal in the 80
th minute by Megan Kammer. The score came off a free kick just outside the 18-yard box that squeaked just under the legs of goalkeeper
Amanda Howard.
Campbellsville (7-2) struggled with its offensive possession tonight, recording only three total shots – one each from
Chelsea Gill,
Lakin Walls and
Breanna Baptiste. Taylor University had seven in each half to finish with 14. Kammer led the Trojans attack with six shots and three on goal.
Howard, who had an easy day on Tuesday in a 9-0 win over Oakland City, was very busy tonight. She recorded six saves – one of those a huge save at the end of the first half to keep the scoreless tie.
On the opposite side of the field, Lauren Cammanrano was not pressured much and did not record a save as CU did not record a shot on goal. It is the first time in over four years that they Lady Tigers did not record a shot on goal – they finished with zero against Martin Methodist on Sept. 11, 2012.
Campbellsville will remain at home as it hosts Bethel University on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. ET. Live video and stats will be available.
