MT. JULIET, Tenn. — Tiger golf shot the third-lowest round from the last two seasons, while senior
James Higgins fired a career-low 66 to put Campbellsville in second place at the Mid-South Conference Fall Championship.
The Tigers are tied for second with Cumberland University with team scores of 290. They trail University of the Cumberlands by nine strokes (281) after Round 1.
Higgins, a senior from Manchester, England, beat his career-low score by one stroke – which came last season at the Deer Park Classic (67). In his round, Higgins rolled in a career-high seven birdies but fell victim to two bogeys to be tied for first after an opening round 66.
Ben Kendrick from University of the Cumberlands also finished with a 66 to sit atop the leaderboard with Higgins.
Robert Johnson was even-keel throughout his round, rolling in 16 pars and two bogeys for a two-over 73 to be tied for 12
th.
Justin Riffle is tied for 27
th after an opening round 75. He finished with three bogeys, one birdie and a double on the 16
th.
Justin Warman and
Tristan Blevins are right behind Riffle. Warman fired a five-over 76, while Blevins finished with a six-over 77 to sit in a tie for 33
rd and 39
th, respectively.

The Tigers are looking for their first Top 4 finish in the MSC Fall Championship since 2012. CU won the tournament in 2009 at its home course, Campbellsville County Club.
