Fighting Tigers host Faulkner on Saturday, kickoff at 12 PM

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Coming off a 48-34 victory at Bluefield College, Fighting Tiger football returns to Finley Stadium and Citizens Bank Field on Saturday for Family Weekend.
 
Campbellsville is playing host to Faulkner University with kickoff scheduled for 12 p.m. ET. Fans can catch the Tiger Tailgate Show with Jordan Alves, Matt Payton and the Voice of the Fighting Tigers, Jim Freeman, starting at 11:30 a.m. on WLCU-TV and 88.7 The Tiger.
 
 
SERIES FACTS:
• Today is the seventh meeting between Campbellsville and Faulkner University with the series tied at 3-3.
• Faulkner is the only team from Alabama CU has ever played.
• CU and Faulkner are meeting for the fourth time while playing in October. The Tigers are 2-1 in those games.
• Each year CU has defeated Faulkner in the regular season, the Tigers have at least won four MSC divisional games that season.
• In the series, Faulkner averages 39 points per game, while CU averages 33.5.
• Campbellsville won the first-ever meeting, 22-21, in 2010 (Oct. 23). Calvin Bini blocked a field goal with 18 seconds to win the game. It was also Homecoming for the Fighting Tigers. CU running back Mark Terry rushed for 229 yards, becoming the sixth Tiger running back to rush for 200 yards in a game.
• After losing three of the first four games in the series, the Tigers have won the previous two. CU won at home, 30-21, in 2014, then again in Montgomery, Ala. last season 59-50.
• In last season's matchup, CU broke or tied nine program records.
 
PREVIOUS MATCHUP:
• It was a record-setting day for Fighting Tiger football as they knocked off a Top 5 Faulkner Eagle team for the second straight season. Campbellsville broke or tied nine records and outgunned the No. 3 Eagles, 59-50, on Oct. 3, 2015. 
• Campbellsville and Faulkner both ran over 90 plays and racked up a combined 1,059 yards. The Eagles outgained Campbellsville, 589-480, but the Tigers were able to come up with five turnovers in their third victory over a Top 5 team in the previous 10 games.
Jacob Russell broke his own single-game passing record with six touchdown tosses, finishing the day hitting 30-of-53 for 379 yards. 
Jarrod Harrington caught 12 of those passes for 131 yards to tie the single-game record for receptions. Harrington finished with 375 all-purpose yards which broke Greg Fountain's record at 314. 
Tyus Alcorn also tied a single-game record, hauling in three of the six Russell TDs.
• Also, Campbellsville had three fumble recoveries and four fumbles forced to break single-game records.
• It was a high-scoring affair, as the Tigers took a 45-43 lead at halftime.
• The Tigers scored their last touchdown, 59-50, on a two-yard rush by AJ Strong to cap an eight-play, 61 yard drive. Campbellsville then held Faulkner scoreless in the fourth quarter for the first time all season to seal the win.

TIGER CLAWZ:
• Both Campbellsville and Faulkner enter MSC West Division play on Saturday.
• In MSC Division openers, Campbellsville boasts a 5-3 record in the Perry Thomas era. • CU has started the season 1-3 for the first time since 2008 - Perry Thomas' first season as head coach. That season, the Tigers finished at 3-8 overall.
• Campbellsville boasts an all-time record of 146-158-1.
• Coach Perry Thomas is 5-3 in fifth games of the season.
• Head coaches Perry Thomas and Charlie Boren are meeting for the sixth time. Boren leads the series over Thomas, 3-2.
• In the rst four games of the season, kicker Bradley Bates has hit five field goals - including a career-long 37-yard field goal against Cumberlands. He ranks No. 7 in the NAIA in eld goals (5) and No. 11 in total scoring (31).
• Quarterback Hunter Brown has started the year very well for the Tigers, ranking No. 5 in the NAIA in total passing yards (1,284) and No. 4 in passing yards/game (321).
Tyus Alcorn has been Brown's favorite target. Alcorn ranks No. 9 in the NAIA with 28 receptions, receptions per game (7) and No. 12 receiving yards per game (104.8). He also ranks No. 12 in total receiving yards (419).
• Lead stat-man, Kevin Burkhead, is working consecutive game no. 306 today. A role he's held since 1987. He has not missed a game since the rebirth of the program.
