Madison Kennedy scores a pair as Lady Tigers rout Brescia, 5-0

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Campbellsville women's soccer got back on the winning track tonight, scoring multiple goals in each half, routing Brescia University, 5-0.

The Lady Tigers (5-1) finished with four first-half shots, three on goal, and capitalized on two, taking a 2-0 lead over the Bearcats (0-4).

As it turned out freshman Madison Kennedy, who played at Owensboro High, scored the only goal CU would need. The opening score of the match was the first of the season for Kennedy. She added a second goial in the 72nd minute.

Just 13 minutes later freshman Laken Walls delivered her fourth career goal in the 21st minute, pushing CU ahead at the intermission, 2-0.

The Lady Tigers kept the pressure on Brescia in the second half, with five total shots and capitalizing on three. Valeska Tovar scored the first of three quick goals in a span of 10 minutes in the 69th minute.

Gill capped the Lady Tigers' night with a header off a corner kick from fellow senior Jade Perry – the first assist in her career. The goal game by Gill was her second of the season and 21st of her career.

Goalkeeper Amanda Howard had an easy night in goal, as the Lady Tigers dominated the pitch allowing just one Brescia shot. Laura Poe saw her first action of the season, relieving Howard in goal with 10 minutes left on the clock.

The Lady Tigers finished the night with 10 shots and eight on goal. Brescia's Jerrica Kidd grabbed three saves.

Campbellsville returns to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 10 as both the men's and women's programs entertain Trinity International with a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. ET at Finley Stadium & Citizens Bank Field. Live video and stats will be available via CampbellsvilleTigers.com.
