Fox scores 1000th point as Lady Tigers down Wilberforce, 90-67

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger basketball forced 30 turnovers and scored 35 points off those Wilberforce miscues to down the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon, 90-67.

The win gives the Lady Tigers a 20-3 overall record – the ninth 20-win season in Ginger Colvin's 10 seasons at the helm.

Emily Fox needed 10 points to enshrine herself into the 1,000-point club and the senior from McKinney, Ky., did exactly that by drilling her second 3-pointer of the game with 3:57 left in the third quarter. In addition, Fox passes Jody Criswell on the program's list for most 3s in a career with 213 – ranking No. 4.

Jordan Doram led the Lady Tigers with 15 points in 18 minutes off the bench. Madison Stewart, who has started the previous three games for Doram, scored 14 points. Both Doram, Stewart and Lauren Turner gathered three rebounds apiece, while Fox, Madison Kaiser and Madison Faulkner led CU with four.

In addition, Faulkner scored a career-high 11 points.

It looked as if the Lady Tigers would run away with a big margin today after leading 24-8 at the end of the first quarter. But the Bulldogs outscored CU by three points in the second quarter, 18-15, and trailed by just 12 points at halftime, 39-27.

Wilberforce was able to turn CU over 18 times to cut into the lead, but the Bulldogs only scored 10 points off those mishaps and could not take advantage.

With 6:03 left in the second quarter, senior guard Abby Miller went down with a shoulder injury and did not return. But that allowed playing time for Madison Kaiser off the bench. Kaiser scored a season-high 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting and has scored 31 points off the bench in the previous five games.

Fox drilled her first triple – the first of the game for CU – to start the third quarter and CU was able to push its lead to 20 points for the first time with 2:26 left in the third. The Lady Tigers never looked back.

CU struggled from behind the arc, hitting just 2-of-11 but the Lady Tigers finished hitting 49 percent overall (33-of-67).

Caitlin Hall pushed the Lady Tigers lead to as big as 26 points with 5:04 left but Wilberforce could not find an answer for CU's depth. The Bulldogs were in foul trouble all day with three players ending the game with four fouls and Ariel Skipper fouling out.

Campbellsville ends its non-conference schedule with a 15-1 record and a perfect 5-0 at home. The Lady Tigers will now have a big week ahead of them, as they travel to No. 4 Lindsey Wilson on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. ET. CU will then travel to No. 6 Shawnee State on Saturday with tipoff at 2 p.m.
