MSC Bluegrass Division play continues for Football at Cincinnati Christian on Saturday

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville football team is back on the road Saturday afternoon as it travels to Cincinnati Christian University for a 1:30 p.m. ET kickoff from Willard Stargel Stadium.

Fans can tune into the CU Sports Network, 88.7 The Tiger, starting at 1 p.m. ET with The Tiger Tailgate Show. In addition, live video is being provided by Cincinnati Christian.

The Tigers are off to their best start since the 2001 season, after starting 4-0 for just the fifth time in program history. Last week, Campbellsville moved to 2-0 in Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division play after beating Kentucky Christian University, 58-25.

Hunter Brown threw for a season-high 436 yards last week against the Knights, while Jordan Brown caught a career-best 149 yards on seven catches. Jordan Duff finished the game with 164 all-purpose yards and a pair of touchdowns (one receiving and one rushing).

Bradley Bates set a new program record in the game last week as he scored 16 points in the kicking game, which edged the previous kicking record by a point. Bates was 3-for-3 on his field goal opportunities and he converted on all seven of his extra points. The senior has found his kicking stroke and is No. 1 in the nation among kickers, scoring nine per points game.

Justin Manning and BJ Pelt continue to anchor the Campbellsville defense. Manning recorded 18 tackles against Kentucky Christian to push his season average to 13.3 – ranking third in the NAIA and leads the MSC. Pelt picked off two passes against the Knights and now averages an interception a game and 2.5 passes defended per game, to lead the NAIA in both categories.

The Tiger passing attack continues to lead the nation heading into week eight of the season. After finishing the 2016 season atop NAIA in passing yards, Campbellsville's 399 passing yards per contest leads the nation once again this season. Brown is also tops in the country with 386.5 passing yards as an individual.

Cincinnati Christian enters week eight in search of its first victory in program history. The Eagles lost all 11 games during its first season and has dropped its first six games of the 2017 season. Cincinnati Christian ranks 85th in the country in scoring offense (11.2 points per game) and scoring defense (45.8 points per game). Over its last three games, the Eagles scored a combined 14 points, while allowing 142 points – including over 55 points in the last two weeks.

Garner Harris paced the Cincinnati Christian offense during the first six games compiling 301 rushing yards. In the passing game, the Eagles have had three different players record at least 35 passing attempts, where Braydon Womeldorf leads the way with 219 yards. Jay Horton anchors the Eagle defense with three interceptions and ranks eighth in the nation.

In the first matchup between the two teams last season, the Tigers recorded it eighth shutout in program history beating Cincinnati Christian, 49-0. In a matchup that saw the two teams enter with a combined one victory, Campbellsville closed out its 2016 campaign with the victory at home.

Saturday's matchup is set to be the first meeting between the two programs played in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Opening kick on Saturday afternoon is set for 1:30 p.m. ET from Willard Stargel Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.
