CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The 13th-ranked Campbellsville men's soccer team hits the road for the first time this month as it faces Life University at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday in Marietta, Georgia.
The Tigers are 8-1-1 on the season and are unbeaten in their last four matches. Campbellsville is currently second in the Mid-South Conference standings with a 2-0-1 mark. The Tigers are coming off of a 3-0 win over University of Pikeville last Thursday night at Finley Stadium
In Campbellsville's victory over the Bears,
Thomas Edge and
Scott Brooksbank each recorded their first collegiate goals, while
Ignacio Mangada scored his team-leading eighth goal of the year.
On the season, Campbellsville has notched six shutouts in 10 matches, which is 12th overall in the NAIA.
Andreas Nota ranks 25th in the nation with a .880 goals against average, while recording 37 saves – which is fifth in the Mid-South Conference.
Along with leading the Tigers with eight goals this season, Mangada has recorded a team-high 18 points.
Nathan Heath is second on the team with five goals and 10 points.
Life – who is in their second season of competition – enters the match at 7-5-0 and lost their last contest to University of the Cumberlands. The Running Eagles 1-0 loss at the Patriots was their first conference loss of the season and they sit tied for third in the MSC at 2-1-0.
Wessley Soronellas and Thierry Jules lead Life with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Soronellas leads the team with nine goals, while Jules' three assists lead the team and he is second with seven goals. Joe Davis has played the majority of the minutes in goal making 43 saves in 10 appearances.
During the first matchup between the two programs, Campbellsville defeated the Running Eagles at home, 11-0. The Tigers then took down Life in the quarterfinals of the MSC Tournament last season, 8-0.
Opening kick is set for 8 p.m. ET on Saturday night from Lupo Family Field in Marietta, Ga.
