Rachel Blumfeldt recorded her first-career hat trick and goalkeeper
Amanda Howard broke the career saves mark in Campbellsville's 4-1 win over Life University on Saturday night.
After Life University's Josie Davis put the Running Eagles (4-8, 1-3 MSC) ahead 1-0 in the 13
th minute, Blumfeldt evened the match just seconds later with the first of her three goals.
The score remained tied at halftime but CU (4-9-1, 2-1-1 MSC) turned the tides in the second half and dominated the pitch. Defender
Jordan Stallings earned her second-career goal on a PK in the 55
th minute before Blumfeldt put the Lady Tigers ahead 3-1 in the 60
th.
She capped her hat trick in the 85
th to put the nail in the coffin.
Howard, a senior from Harrodsburg, Ky., needed only two saves to match Brandi Hagerman's career record of 410 saves but she finished the night with seven pushing her total to 415.
CU put up 14 shots overall with a remarkable 10 on frame. Life finished with 15 shots but only 8 were on goal.
Campbellsville will now return home to host University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. CU will honor its two seniors –
Amanda Howard and
Valeska Tovar – during post-game ceremonies for Senior Night.
