Tigers finish strong at Shawnee State Fall Invitational; finish in a tie for third place

McDERMOTT, Ohio — Campbellsville men's golf flipped the switch at the Shawnee State University Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon, registering all four counting scores at 75 or below and jumping up the leaderboard to finish in third place.
 
The Tigers shot 313 on Day 1 of the Fall Invite but went low on Monday with a tournament-low 295.
 
Justin Riffle, who was the only Tiger card a round in the 70s during Sunday's opening 18-holes, backed up his first-round 75 with another 75 to finish in a tie for eighth.
 
Tyler Harrod also rallied on Monday by shooting the second-lowest round of the tournament with an even-par 72. After the first-round 80, Harrod jumped up the leaderboard by nine spots to to finish in a tied for 11th.
 
Freshman BJ Knox also shot an opening-round 80 but backed that up with a one-over 73 on Monday to place 13th along with teammate Justin Warman. Warman had both rounds in the 70s by carding 78-75 to round of the Top 4 golfers for CU.
 
Seito Miyazaki finished tied for 28th with rounds of 80-81.
 
University of Pikeville won the team tournament with scores of 295-303. The Bears out-paced the host Shawnee State by three strokes (601) and Campbellsville by 10.
 
Individually, Tyler Overburg from Miami University-Hamilton carded both rounds at two-under 70 to out-play teammate James Leisinger by one stroke. Leisinger was four-under after Day 1 but finished one-over in the second round to fall back into second place.
 
The Tigers will now have one week to prepare for the NCCAA Championship at the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla. The Tournament is scheduled for three-rounds starting on Monday, Oct. 23.
