CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville's men's soccer team is back at home against University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday night. Opening kick from Finley Stadium is set for 8 p.m. ET.
With the regular season entering its final stretch, the Tigers have their final three Mid-South Conference matches set over the next nine days. Campbellsville is 9-1-1 on the season and they are 3-0-1 in the Mid-South Conference – which is second in the standings.
Last time out, the Tigers picked up a 3-1 win at Life University on Saturday night. Campbellsville jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals from
Haylen West,
Ignacio Mangada and
Nathan Heath. The Running Eagles spoiled the shutout with a goal in the 68th minute.
Andreas Nota matched a career-high with seven saves against Life and allowed just the one goal. Nota's performance earned him MSC Defender of the Week honors on Monday.
On the season, Mangada leads the team with nine goals and 20 points, while Heath is the only other Tiger to surpass the 10-point mark with 13 points. Heath is second on the team with six goals and he is 5-for-5 on penalty kick opportunities this season.
Nota ranks 25th in the nation with a goals against average of .900 – which is tied for the best in the MSC. The freshman also ranks fourth in the conference with 44 saves in 11 appearances this season.
Cumberlands enters the contest on Tuesday night with an overall record of 7-4-3 and sit at 3-1-0 in the Mid-South Conference. The Patriots are coming off a 3-1 victory against Shawnee State on Friday and Cumberlands' lone conference loss came to Cumberland University, 3-0.
Aleksa Blagojevic leads the Patriots with five goals and 12 total points, as he is the only player on the team to reach the 10-point mark. Of its 19 goals this season, six different players have recorded a goal with five scoring more than one. Ahmed Ghatwary has recorded 57 saves for Cumberlands this season, allowing 13 goals and recording three shutouts.
In last season's contest between the Patriots and Tigers, Campbellsville edged Cumberlands on the road, 1-0, to end the regular season without a loss and entered postseason play with a 13-0-2 mark.
Kickoff on Tuesday night is set for 8 p.m. ET at Finley Stadium, after the conclusion of the women's soccer match against the Patriots.
