PALM COAST, Fla. — Junior
Kylie Withrow finished with a final round 79 to earn All-American honors and the Lady Tigers finished third in the NCCAA Women's Golf Championship at Hammock Beach Resort's Conservatory Course.
Campbellsville's consistency struggled throughout the three-round championship. The Lady Tigers shot a 319 in round one but fell off the pace with a 325 and 330 in the second and third rounds, respectively.
Dallas Baptist ran away with the title for the third time in program history after finishing with all three rounds of 296, 287, 292 (875). Biola University, the newest NCCAA affiliated member, finished in second place with scores of 320, 319, 325 (964).
Withrow, a junior from Glasgow, Ky., fell victim to six bogeys and a double but was able to card a birdie on both the ninth and 18
th holes.
On the ninth, she stuck her approach to a few feet and buried her final birdie to seal All-American status for the second consecutive year.
Withrow was the lone Lady Tiger to keep all three scores in the 70s and finished ninth.
Fellow junior
Michaela Jarman had an up-and-down day but managed an 11
th place finish after carding an 80 for the third round – just missing All-American status.
After carding back-to-back birdies on her fifth and sixth holes, Nos. 15 and 16, Jarman fell off the pace and finished her front-nine with a double and a quad on the par-three 17
th and par-five 18
th, respectively.
On the 17
th, she ran into some bunker trouble and then went into the lateral hazard twice, as well as a bunker, on the 18
th to make the turn at 43. On the final nine holes (front), she managed to get her game back under control by rolling in another pair of birdies on Nos. 3-4 but the final hole once again reared its ugly head. Jarman doubled the par-five ninth after going into yet another hazard to finish with an 80.
Underclassmen
Devany Cope,
Kristen Miller and
Kayla Rodgers finished with their final round in the 80s.
Outside of five holes where she was 11-over, Cope was solid all day. She delivered a birdie on her 11
th hole of the day – the par-four second – but dropped back to 23
rd.
Miller dropped seven strokes on three holes to shoot a 13-over 85. She was able to birdie the par-four 15
th after her drive landed just short of the green and she played a beautiful chip to a few inches. She finished in 37
th.
Rodgers also was able to roll in a birdie today on the par-four 16
th but seven doubles ruined her round and she finished in a tied for 33
rd.
Dallas Baptist had all five played in the Top 5, as Ann Parmerter earned medalist honors with scores of 72-75-72 (219).
The NCCAA Championship completes the fall season for Campbellsville. CU will compete in the spring starting in February with a schedule to be announced.
