Lady Tiger golf cards second-lowest round of fall season, sits in fourth at Thomas Invite

VALDOSTA, Ga. —Lady Tiger golf matched its lowest score of the year with a 316 in the first round of the Thomas University Invitational and sits in fourth place.
 
Campbellsville sits behind University of the Cumberlands (294), Dalton State (298) and Cumberland University (315) in the team standings. The Lady Tigers also lead Lindsey Wilson College and Southeastern University (319) by three strokes.
 
Junior Kylie Withrow led Campbellsville with a 76 in the opening round. She finished her front-nine holes at +4 and was even on the back to place her in a tied for fifth place.
 
Fellow junior Michaela Jarman was hot on her heels with a 79. Jarman made the turn at five-over but found her stroke on the back to finish at seven-over par.
 
Kayla Rodgers carded her second-lowest score of her career. The sophomore from Campbellsville, Ky. finished with an eight-over 80 to sit in a tie for 18th.
 
A pair of freshmen, Kristen Miller and Devany Cope, carded nine-over 81s in their opening round. Cope made the turn at one-over par but lost her stroke on the back to drop into a tied for 24th.
 
Kaitlyn Riley from University of the Cumberlands leads the field with a four-under 68. Teammate Lucia Pena sits in second place with a two-under 70.
 
Dalton State also has a pair of Roadrunners in second and third place, respectively – Heather Nail (71) and Caroline Griffin (74).
 
Campbellsville will now have to make up ground tomorrow with the second round starting at 9 a.m. ET with a shotgun start at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
