PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Lexxus Graham recorded a season-high 20 points for the sixth-ranked Lady Tigers as Campbellsville moved to 6-0 on the season following a 97-75 victory over 15th-ranked Central Methodist University on Saturday afternoon.
Graham finished two points shy of her career high, which she set during the 2014-15 season with 22 points against Miami University-Middletown.
Madison Clements finished with 17 points and
Savannah Gregory tallied 12 points.
The Eagles (3-3) were led by Brianna White who notched a double-double off the bench with 14 points and 10 boards. Ana Borges recorded 13 points and Brandi Henton finished with 10 points.
Both teams played close in first stanza of the game with the lead changing hand four times. The first 10 minutes of action was played within an eight-point window with Campbellsville holding its largest lead of six points with 20 seconds to play in the first quarter.
With a 21-16 lead to start the second quarter, the Lady Tigers opened the quarter on a quick 7-2 run to take its first double-digit lead of the afternoon with 8:39 left before halftime. Campbellsville then started to pull away with a 16-4 run to go ahead, 45-25, with 4:09 left in the second quarter.
At the half, Campbellsville held a 51-31 advantage and shot 53.2 percent from the floor and made 19-of-22 free throws in the first 20 minutes of action.
After Central Methodist scored the first basket of the third quarter, the Lady Tigers bounced back and regained a 20-point edge for the remainder of the contest. Campbellsville stretched its lead to 28 points twice during the third quarter.
The Lady Tigers continued to pull away in the fourth and final quarter as Campbellsville took an 85-52 lead with 7:48 left in regulation – which was its largest lead of the game. The Lady Tigers held 95-66 lead at the 3:40 mark in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles closed the game on a 9-2 run to cut the Campbellsville lead. However, Central Methodist could not overcome its deficit as the Lady Tigers picked up a 97-75 victory in a top 15 matchup.
Campbellsville forced the Eagles into 31 turnovers, and the Lady Tigers racked up 17 steals, but Campbellsville also had 20 turnovers of its own. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor with Central Methodist going 24-for-47 from the field and the Lady Tigers were 28-of-52.
