MSC Tournament begins with third-seeded Women’s Volleyball facing sixth-seeded Cumberland

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville women's volleyball team starts its 2017 postseason run as the No. 3 seed in the Mid-South Conference Tournament and faces No. 6-seeded Cumberland University on Thursday night at 6 p.m. ET from South Warren High School in Bowling Green, Ky.
 
The Lady Tigers earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament after finishing 10-4 overall and a game back of second-seeded Georgetown College. Cumberland University finished tied for fifth in the conference with Life University, but lost the tiebreaker to the Running Eagles after Life handed Georgetown one of its three losses.
 
Campbellsville wrapped its regular season on Monday night with a 3-1 win over Indiana University-Southeast on Senior Night.
 
Entering the conference tournament, the Lady Tigers hold a 23-7 overall record and have gone and even 4-4 over its final eight matches of the regular season. Campbellsville has only won back-to-back contests once over that stretch beating Central State University at the Boneyard Brawl, followed by a sweep over Cumberland.
 
Annija Abolina leads Campbellsville this season with 311 kills and she is the only individual with over 300 kills for the Lady Tigers this season. Maria Coelho has chipped in with 285 kills, while Julia Fonseca has a team best attacking percentage of .315. Fonseca also paces the Campbellsville block with 78 total blocks on the year.
 
Marcella Compeau anchors the back row for the Lady Tigers with 488 digs and a 4.52 dig per set average, which are second and third in the Mid-South Conference, respectively. Kate Harris has recorded 375 assists for Campbellsville and has averaged 7.35 assists in her 51 sets played.
 
Cumberland has dropped its last two matches and three of its last four heading into the postseason. The Phoenix compiled an overall record of 15-14 and went 5-9 in the Mid-South Conference this season. Masa Nalovic and Isidora Markovic lead Cumberland with 256 and 246 kills this season. Only Mikayla Wickham joins Nalovic and Markovic with 200-plus kills after recording 204 in 29 matches.
 
Along with tallying the second-most kills on the team, Markovic has posted a team-best 90 blocks. Taylor Kasper leads the Phoenix with a total of 383 digs, to go along with Kara Snell's 221 and 201 digs from Jena Goodman.
 
In two regular season matchups, Campbellsville beat Cumberland three sets at home last week, and the Lady Tigers escaped with a five-set victory over the Phoenix in early October in Lebanon, Tennessee.
 
Campbellsville and Cumberland faceoff in the final quarterfinal match on Thursday night at 6 p.m. ET from South Warren High School in Bowling Green, Ky.
 
Quarterfinal action begins at 10:30 a.m. ET between top-seeded Lindsey Wilson College and eighth-seeded University of Pikeville. Fourth-seeded University of the Cumberlands faces fifth-seeded Life at 1 p.m. ET and No. 2-seeded Georgetown battles No. 7-Shawnee State University at 3:30 p.m. ET.
 
The semifinals take place at 10 a.m. ET and 1 p.m. ET on Friday, followed by the championship match at 7 p.m. ET on Friday night. All seven matches take place at South Warren High School
