WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — After allowing 51 points in the first half, No. 21 Campbellsville men's basketball held Stillman College to only 28 in the second half and finished the game on a 15-3 run to come from behind with an 86-79 victory.

The victory is the 10th win in a row for Campbellsville (14-1), as Stillman's (11-2) eight-game win streak – including wins over Cumberland University, University of the Cumberlands and Life University - is snapped.

A fast-paced first half turned into a snail's pace second period and that played right into the hand of Campbellsville. After allowing a season-high 51 points in the first half, Campbellsville trailed by its largest deficit of five points with 7:30 to play. The Stillman Tigers (11-2) then slowed the pace and didn't start its offense until 12 seconds remained on the shot clock. That allowed Campbellsville to rally.

Coming out of a Campbellsville timeout, Tim Coleman made a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to three, 73-70, and Shawn Johnson made another free throw cutting the lead to two, 73-71.

With 6:01 left, DaQuan Forrest drilled his sixth 3-pointer of the night, putting Stillman ahead, 76-71, but that was one of two baskets the rest of the way for SC. Forrest led all scorers with 21 points and tied a season-high hitting 6-of-8 from deep.

After the Forrest triple, Campbellsville's defense stepped up and got three stops in a row. That stellar D turned into offense, as Jalen Coates, Tim Coleman and Shawn Johnson teamed up for a quick 7-0 run to push the Tigers back ahead, 78-76. Monte Martin tied the game at 78-all with 3:11 but that was the final field goal CU allowed.

In the final 3:11, the CU Tigers finished the game on a 7-1 run and in the final 6:01 after the Forrest 3-pointer, CU ended on a 15-3 run.

The dagger came with 30 seconds remaining. Leading 81-79, Andrew Smith found Hagen Tyler for his fourth Edward Jones 3-point basket to push CU's lead to five. Stillman missed three consecutive 3-point attempts and Andrew Smith seal the victory by making a pair of free throws.

Smith led CU with 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to complete his fourth double-double in the last five games and fifth overall on the year. Tyler finished with 16 points – all from the 3-point line and four points coming from technical free throws.

Once again, all five starters scored in double-figures, as Shawn Johnson had 14, Jalen Coates finished with 10 and Tim Coleman rallied in the final eight minutes to card 10 points.

Campbellsville finished hitting 8-fo-25 (32%) from the 3-point line but coach Brent Vernon challenged his team to stop settling for the longer jumper and get inside the paint. CU did exactly that but only taking eight 3s in the second period and made 14-of-18 second-half free throws (78%).

The Tigers were also able to hold Stillman leading scorer Rafeal Adams in check for the most part. Averaging just shy of a double-double, Adams finished with 14 points and 10 boards but was plagued with foul trouble.

Campbellsville will now get back in action on Saturday for Game 2 of the University of the Cumberlands Classic. CU will tipoff at 2 p.m. ET vs. Kentucky Christian University. Coverage on 88.7 The Tiger and CU Sports Network starts at 1:45.
