CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. —
Justin Warman backed his opening-round 73 up with a two-under 70 today to finish with medalist honors and lead Campbellsville men's golf to a first-place finish at CU's Invitational at Rosewood Golf Club.
Warman shot 73-70, 143, for his two-day total – outlasting teammate
Justin Riffle and Brescia University's Chance England by one stroke. Riffle made a charge today with a tournament-low three-under 69, while England matched Warman's 70 in the second round.
As a team, the Tigers were 10-over par – improving 14 strokes from the opening round. CU finished ahead of Shawnee State University by eight strokes (618) and Brescia by 12 (622).
In addition to Warman and Riffle, the Tigers had
James Higgins and
Robbie Johnson also putting up scores for the Top 4. Higgins improve five strokes on Day 2 with a 77 to finish 13
th. Johnson was steady with consecutive 82s to finish tied for 22
nd.
Justin Hazel also competed but was withdrawn after signing an incorrect scorecard.
CU had a second team in the field, which placed fifth.
Nathan Lee and
Tyler Harrod led that team with matching 83-77s to be tied for 14
th.
Halen Stamper went low on Tuesday with an even-par 72 to finish 17
th. In addition, Seito Miyaski and
Pierce Dahl rounded out the CU teams with 85-77, 88-76, respectively.
Individually,
Andrew Scalos has a solid tournament by carding marching 78s and finishing tied for 10
th.
Campbellsville will now have 13 days to prepare for the Mid-South Conference Championship scheduled for April 24-26 at Bowling Green Country Club.
