Lady Tigers close out the home portion of their schedule with a couple of wins over KCU

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Lady Tigers defeated a pesky Kentucky Christian University today in a doubleheader at Veterans Memorial Park and ended their regular-season home stand, 6-1, 8-0.

Campbellsville improved to 35-11 and sent the Knights back to Grayson, Ky. with a 6-22 slate.

The only thing that stands in the way of the Mid-South Conference Tournament next week in Bowling Green, Ky. is a doubleheader Friday, April 21 when CU travels to Williamsburg, Ky. for a 4 p.m. matchup with the University of the Cumberlands.

GAME 1 – Campbellsville 6, Kentucky Christian 1

Neely Quint (18-5) threw a three-hitter through five innings and her teammates scored in all but one inning to gain the 6-1 margin of victory.

CU got on the board early with a run in the first off Tori Humphrey's bat. She plated Jacqueline Roof with her 16th double of the season and the team added to that margin in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

KCU picked up a run in the sixth, but by that time Campbellsville led 6-0.

Madison Mudd (1B/2B) had two hits along with Roof (1B/2B). Markie Smith (RBI), Brianna Scott (3B), Hailey Szpila (1B) and Mia Aldridge (2B) completed the nine-hit attack.

GAME 2 –Campbellsville 8, Kentucky Christian 0

Rebecca Miller and Jacqueline Roof each picked up three RBIs, Roof with a home run and Miller a bases clearing double to put the Knights on their heels.

Rachel Denkins (5-1) allowed three hits in five innings and struck out two. Morgan Gailor pitched an inning of relief and worker her way out of trouble with a couple of strikeouts and a fly ball third out in the fifth.

The Lady Tigers exploded for seven runs in the third when six hits found safety in the grass. Roof's homer scored Rebecca Miller (1B) and Alexis Smith (HBP). After that Brianna Scoot and Hailey Szpila singled and Mia Aldridge walked before Miller's double. Kalin Bottoms and Brittany Rippy also had hits in then eight-hit attack.
