BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — It's win or go home for Lady Tiger softball after falling to the loser's bracket of the Mid-South Conference Tournament with a 2-1 loss to six-seed University of the Cumberlands on Friday night. Now having to win five games in two days, the Lady Tigers have a up-hill climb to repeat as tourney champs.
But before they can think about their fifth championship banner, Campbellsville has to take care of business today. The day starts with a 12 p.m. ET matchup versus the Pikeville Bears at Michael O. Buchanon Park. Fans can follow the action live on the CU Sports Network at the link above.
In the six games that were played yesterday, Cumberlands upset the two-seeded Lady Tigers and also won a 5-4 11-inning affair over Georgetown. Now the Georgetown Tigers will also be in an elimination game with four-seeded Shawnee State, which also is scheduled to start at Noon ET. Cumberlands will face top-seeded Lindsey Wilson at 2:30.
The winners of Campbellsville-Pikeville and Georgetown-Shawnee State will lace them up again tonight at 5 p.m. ET. The winner of the Lindsey Wilson-Cumberlands matchup will move into the championship rounds, while the loser falls into the finals of the loser's bracket.
Campbellsville (36-12) vs. UPIKE (18-31)
UPIKE finished the regular season with a 7-17 conference mark and the Lady Tigers won the season series with four close games. CU won 9-4, 11-6, 3-2 and 5-2 in Pikeville, Ky.
University of Pikeville played only one game on Friday and lost to Shawnee State, 4-1, to move on into the loser's bracket. The Bears were only able to punch their lone run in the sixth inning – a RBI single by Jillian Bohnert.
In the circle, Hannah Skaggs went 5.1 innings, allowing six hits and four runs – three earned – while striking out three. Hannah Thacker tossed the final 0.2 innings and got out of the jam in the three-run sixth for Shawnee State.
On the year, Skaggs boasts a 6-8 record and 3.54 ERA entering today. She's tossed 83 innings and allowed 42 earned runs, while opponents are hitting .291 off her. Thacker it 4-10 overall with a 4.40 ERA in 90.2 innings.
Offensively UPIKE is led by Bohnert's .379 average with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs. Kitty Raymond is hitting .338 with seven home runs and 34 RBIs – which is second on the team – while compiling a team-high 50 hits in 148 at bats.
For Campbellsville, It was an offensive struggle in the first two games, while the pitching has been lights out.
Rachel Denkins and
Neely Quint pitched in both games yesterday, while Denkins tossed a one-hitter through six-plus innings vs. Cumberland University in a 5-2 win. Quint went 7.1 innings, allowing eight hits and only two earned runs.
But it was the offense that could not pick up the timely hit, as CU left nine runners left on base in the last game and 12 overall for the day.

Mia Aldridge and
Alexis Smith all compiled two hits for CU in game two.
