SHAWNEE, Okla. – Five Tigers grabbed two more NAIA cuts, while 10 more earned Top 8 in finals at Day 2 of the NCCAA Track and Field Championships.
Freshman
Tyler Lewis earned an NAIA "A" standard in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing first in preliminaries in 14.42.
Also earning a standard was the team of
Paxton Wiley,
Brandon Battle,
Jordan Thomas and
Jaron Jackson in the 4x100-meter relay preliminary. The quad finished in a time of 41.98 for third place, an NAIA "B" cut and the school record.
Scoring in three events for Campbellsville, junior
Brayden Russell leapt 1.99 meters in the high jump for fourth, 13.17 meters in triple jump for sixth, and threw 46.48 meters in javelin to finish eighth.
Nick Mabe followed close behind in the high jump, clearing 1.88 meters for fifth place.
Rounding out the scoring for the Tigers were Nick McGaughey in the decathlon with 4629 points for eighth place,
Clayton Embry in hammer with 46.62 meters for eighth place, and a team of
Adam Sandidge,
Chris Stoeckel,
Camryn Snapp and
Bret Crawford who finished the 4x800-meter relay in 8:03.33 for eighth.
Corbin Harris grabbed the final Top 10 finish for Campbellsville on Day 2 with a 10
th place finish in javelin, recording a 45.29-meter throw.
In preliminaries,
Brandon Battle placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.76 and eighth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.81. He will compete in finals for both events on Saturday.
Jordan Thomas barely missed the mark in the 400-meter dash, placing ninth in a time of 50.70.
Competition resumes for Campbellsville on Saturday, May 13
th at 2:10 p.m. ET with the 1500-meter run.
