SHAWNEE, Okla. – Freshman
Tyler Lewis was crowned national champion for the first time in his career at the 2017 NCCAA Championships in the 110-meter hurdles. He crossed the finish line in 14.58 for first place.
Lewis got a little taste of the victory on Friday with a win in the 110-meter hurdles preliminary. Earning first in that race, he upgraded his NAIA "B" standard to "A" with a finish time of 14.42.
Also showing out for the Tigers, Senior
Brandon Battle grabbed two Top 5 finishes in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.71 and fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.85.
Junior
Adam Sandidge endured through the heat for a fifth-place finish in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:23.28.
Bret Crawford got the last Top 10 finish for Campbellsville with a seventh-place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:01.96.
Following Crawford, freshman
Camryn Snapp finished the 1500-meter run in 4:08.89 for 20th place, then Crawford went on to finish the 800-meter run in 1:57.97 for 15
th.
Campbellsville will return to the oval on Friday, May 26 for the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, Ala.
