BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — In a game that lasted over two and half hours, No. 4-seed Indiana Wesleyan overcame leaving 13 runners on base to win a seven-inning marathon over second-seeded Campbellsville, 10-7.

Campbellsville now falls to the elimination bracket and will have to rally tonight over the winner of our next game between St. Francis and Freed-Hardeman. Game time tonight is at approximately 7 p.m. ET. Indiana Wesleyan is now sitting pretty in the winner's bracket and will have to be beaten twice starting tomorrow at 12 p.m. CT at Michael O. Buchanon Park.

The Lady Tigers started the scoring early but Indiana Wesleyan would answer in almost every inning and finally took a lead it would not surrender in the fifth inning.

Leading the Wildcats at the plate were the two slappers – Lauren Buckley and Kira Madl – both recording three-hit days and scored four of the 10 IWU runs. Kelsey Kooister went 2-for-3, while Kaisey Carson went 2-for-4 and Kristen Exposito went 2-for-2 with three intentional walks.

Tori Humphrey led CU with three hits and three runs driven in, while Hailey Szpila had two hits and two RBI.

Roof wasted little time in getting the Lady Tigers on the board, hitting the fourth pitch of the game over the wall in leftfield, her second homer in as many games in the tournament and 13th of the year. Brittany Rippy singled and Brianna Scott was hit later in the inning, but Carson stranded the runners at second and third with a pair of strikeouts. That was the name of the game, as CU left 12 runners on base and the two teams stranded 25 combined.

The Wildcats answered in their half of the first, starting with a leadoff double to left-center by Carson. Lauren Buckley reached on a swinging bunt and Alex Springer's chopper to the circle put runners on second and third. Kristen Exposito drove in both runners with a single to right for a 2-1 IWU advantage after an inning.

Rebecca Miller drew a leadoff walk in the second for Campbellsville and Roof and Rippy also got free passes with two outs, loading the bases. Tori Humphrey's line drive up the middle plated a pair, putting the Tigers back ahead, 3-2.

Emily Hastings reached on an error to start the bottom of the frame and went to second on a groundout by Kira Madl. Carson's soft single to left put runners on the corners, but groundouts by Buckley and Springer stranded the runners, keeping CU in the lead.

Campbellsville added a run in the third but missed a chance to break open the game.

Mia Aldridge drew a leadoff walk and scored on a double to left-center by Hailey Szpila. Markie Smith and Roof both walked later in the inning, but Rippy popped out to end the threat, leaving the bases loaded.

Exposito got the Wildcats back into the game with a leadoff homer to right-center in the bottom of the third, her 14th of the year, cutting the CU lead to 4-3.

IWU was not done in the inning, though, with a bunt single in front of the plate with two outs by Kelsey Kooistra extending the frame. Hastings dumped a single into short right, putting runners on a corners, and Madl lined an RBI single into leftfield, knotting the contest at four and ending the day for CU starter Neely Quint.

In the fourth Humphrey led off with a solid single to right and Scott reached when her bunt was thrown away by Carson trying to get the lead runner at second. Aldridge's sac bunt pushed the runners to second and third, but Szpila's hard grounder up the middle was knocked down by Carson, who got the out at first.

Carson's wildness continued to rear its ugly head, though, as she hit both Miller and pinch-hitter Alexis Smith, forcing in a run for a 5-4 Tigers edge.

Wesleyan took its first lead of the game in the fifth after a one-out single up the middle by Kooistra nd a wild pitch. With one out Madl singled sharply to center, plating a run to knot the contest at five.
