LONDON, Ky. – Austin Mahoney led the Campbellsville men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Bill Sergent Invitational as he finished as the individual runner-up following the second round of the tournament on Tuesday at Crooked Creek Golf Course.
The Tigers tied the lowest team score during the second round with a 15-over par 303 to move up one spot and finish with a 42-over par 618.

For the second-straight day Mahoney recorded the lowest round for Campbellsville with a 1-over par 73 on the 6,831-yard par 72 course. During the shotgun start on Tuesday, Mahoney started on the fourth hole and posted back-to-back birdies on holes No. 6 and 7. He then recorded nine-straight pars before going 3-over par on the 17th and 18th holes. Mahoney posted three more pars to finish out the day and ended the tournament with a 2-over par 146.
Tyler Harrod finished tied for 11th after a second round of 11-over par 155. During the second round, he went 7-over par 79. Harrod posted birdies on holes No. 11 and 12, but he shot a 6-over par 42 on the front nine.
BJ Knox tied Mahoney and two others for the lowest round on Tuesday with a 1-over par 73. Knox jumped up 14 spots and into a tie for 15th to close out the tournament. He tied a team-high four birdies in the second round to post a two-day total of 12-over par 156.
Justin Warman ended the tournament tied for 37th after ending the event with a 25-over par 169. Warman notched a 14-over par 86 on Tuesday, where he recorded a pair of birdies and seven pars.
Owen Workman rounded out the Campbellsville lineup with a 6-over par 78. He improved on his first round score by 15 shots and finished in 43rd with a 27-over par 171.
Pierce Dahl was lone Tiger in the field competing as an individual. He knocked two strokes off his day one score and fired an 11-over par 83. Dahl capped of the Bill Sergent Invitational in a tie for 35th at 24-over par 168.
Cumberland University held off the rest of the field and won the tournament with a score over 38-over par 614. Lawrence Tech finished just ahead of the Campbellsville and was one shot behind the Phoenix with a 39-over par 615 for the tournament.
Day one leader Erik Hermanson of Union College led wire-to-wire and beat out Mahoney by one shot with a two-day total of 1-over par 145. Midway University's Cody French rounded out the top three with a score of 2-over par 146.
The Tigers return to action on Monday, Sept. 18 at the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Ky.
