Heath's penalty kick in the 48th minute leads No. 9 Tigers past Marian in physical match

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — In a game that saw 12 fouls and five cards handed out by the officials, Campbellsville's Nathan Heath capitalized on a penalty kick in the 48th minute pushing No. 9 Campbellsville to a 1-0 win over Marian University on Tuesday night.

Heath's second score of the year uncorked the scoreless tie just after the intermission.

It was Campbellsville's midfield play and defense that was stellar tonight. Goalkeeper Andreas Nota and the Tiger defense extended their streak of not allowing a goal to 284:51 – which dates back to the win over Bryan College on Sept. 2. That goal for the Lions is the lone score Nota and Campbellsville have allowed all season.

Nota finished with four saves on the night.

After the score by Heath, the physical play amped up to an all-time high. Cameron Badenhorst earned the first card – a yellow – in the 53rd minute.

Campbellsville's captain center-back Daniel Nimmo was awarded a red card in the 64th minute after a hard slide tackle by Marian.

On the same play, Marian University's Patrick Palmer and Cameron Butcher also earned yellows after a shoving match between both teams broke out.

Elijah Zorniger earned the final yellow card of the evening after a hard slide tackle that would have set up a 1v1 opportunity for CU to extend its lead.

After recording five shots in the first period and only one on goal, the Tigers finished with 11 shots and four on their mark.

Campbellsville returns to action on Friday, Sept. 15 at Bethel University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET in McKenzie, Tennessee.
