UPLAND, Ind. — Lady Tiger soccer could not hold down No. 22 Taylor University on Saturday afternoon falling, 3-1.
With the loss, CU drops to 0-4 on the year for the first time in the Dakstats era, which dates back to 2003.
It didn't take long for the Trojans to get on the board as Bailey Zehr scored in the second minute off a one-touch pass from Megan Kammer just outside the six-yard box.
It looked as if Taylor would have a bigger lead a few minutes later but goalkeeper
Amanda Howard saved a PK by Nikki Zaino and also the rebounded shot by Zaino just seconds later.
Howard was busy for the most part of the afternoon, finished with four saves in each half to total eight.
The Lady Tigers were only able to record two shots in the first period and five in the second period but two of those were on frame.
In the second half, Taylor University put the game out of reach just six minutes into the period. Zaino scored on a one-touch pass from Zehr just 26 seconds into the half and a few minutes later Kammer headed in a corner from Jourdan Lehman.
Campbellsville's lone score came in the 63
rd minute as sophomore
Lakin Walls netted her first score from 20-yards out.
The Lady Tigers will now return to Finley Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 7 to host Brescia University. The doubleheader between the men's and women's teams will start at 7 p.m. but the Lady Tigers' game will not start until 9 p.m. ET.
