CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger soccer earned their first win of the season after downing Brescia University 8-0 on Thursday night.
A slew of Lady Tigers (1-4) put up career numbers, as
Rachel Blumfeldt and
Makayla Shearer scored twice, while Keirsten Clukey accounted for five points on the night – one goal and three assists. Also,
Molly Hall and
Sami Sears scored their first-career goals in the rout and
Valeska Tovar netter her first goal of the year.
The Lady Tigers put up a season-high 54 shots - 24 on goal – in the victory, while Brescia has yet to take a shot all season.
Hall put CU ahead in the first 30 seconds with her first goal and it didn't take long for the others to get in on the action. Clukey added on to that lead with her first goal of the year in the ninth minute and was followed with Blumfeldt's first score in the 22
nd and Sears' in the 30
th.
Campbellsville took a 4-0 lead into intermission but the Lady Tigers kept the pedal to the floor in the second period. Just over one minute gone in the second, Blumfeldt scored her final goal after splitting two defenders and rocketing one past the keeper.
Shearer scored her first two careers goals in the 47
th and 52
nd minutes – both off passes from Clukey.
Tovar delivered her first goal of the year as well in the in the 71
st minute.
The Lady Tigers will return to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 12 as Oakland City University comes to town. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET
