MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. —
Justin Warman earned medalist honors and the remaining four Tigers finished on the NCCAA Mid-East Region All-Tournament team leading Campbellsville to its ##-straight championship.
Warman, a sophomore from Georgetown, Ky., backed up his first round 72 with a two-under 70 today to beat teammate
Owen Workman by three strokes.
Austin Mahoney was close behind in fourth, while
Tyler Harrod and
BJ Knox both were tied for fifth.
Warman, who won his second-career tournament, came out on fire today with three birdies in his first four holes to go out with a three-under, 33. On the back-nine, Warman birdied the par-four 15
th but doubled the par-five 17
th to drop back to two-under.
Workman also carded a few birdies on his first-nine holes and went out at two-under, 34. Workman's only blemish on his scoreboard was a bogey on the par-four 14
th.
The 71 Workman fired is the second-lowest in his career after shooting a four-under 68 at the Lindsey Wilson Classic to start the season in early September.
Mahoney – the third freshman in the Top 5 for CU – came right back today by shooting eight strokes better than Monday. Outside of a par of bogeys on the 10
th and 14
th holes, Mahoney birdied the 17
th and pared the remaining 15 for his one-over, 73.
Mahoney has fired seven of the eight rounds to start his career in the 70s. The lone 80-plus round came on Monday with an 81.
Tyler Harrod and
BJ Knox both finished tied for fifth. Harrod was steady all week with a 78-77. Today's round saw five bogeys, a double and two birdies on two of his first four holes.
Knox, who led the Tigers at the Mid-South Conference Fall Championship, also birdied the par-four fourth hole but fell victim to four bogeys to shoot a three-over, 75 – which was five strokes better than Monday's first round.
Campbellsville ran away with the team championship by 41 strokes over Oakland City University.
The Tigers received the Mid-East Region's automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championship at the Conservatory Course in Hammock Bay Resort, Fla. on Oct. 23-25.
