CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The 12th-ranked Campbellsville men's soccer team begins its 2017 Mid-South Conference season on the road Tuesday night against Georgetown College at 8 p.m. ET.
The Tigers got back on the winning track during their last match against Bethel College in a 3-1 win over the Pilots at Finley Stadium last Saturday. Campbellsville had three different goal scorers in the match and this marks the third-straight the Tigers have a different goal scorer for each goal in a match.
Entering the contest on Tuesday night, Campbellsville has not lost in its last 17 Mid-South Conference matches. The Tigers went 6-0-1 last season with a tie Lindsey Wilson College and it went 7-0-0 during the 2015 season, while winning its final three MSC matches in 2014. The last conference regular season match the Tigers lost was to St. Catharine College on Oct. 8, 2014 at home, 2-1.
This season, Campbellsville is 6-1-0 on the year and it ranks 10th in the nation with four shutout. The Tigers have allowed seven goals this season with five coming in its lone loss of the season to Bethel University.
Ignacio Mangada leads Campbellsville with five goal and 11 points, while
Nathan Heath is second on the team with four goals. All four of Heath's goals have come from penalty kicks and all within the last four matches.
Andreas Nota has recorded 28 saves and three shutouts for the Tigers this season. The freshman has also posted a save percentage of .800 during seven starts.
Georgetown comes into Tuesday's matchup with a 5-3-0 record overall and picked up a 2-1 victory at home over Kentucky Christian on Saturday. Logan Blankenship and Nick Gregory have led Georgetown during the season with a combined 15 of the teams 22 goals. Blankenship has a team-best nine goals and 19 points, while Gregory has six goals and three assists.
Patrick Schwarz has started in seven games this season making 27 saves, while Jacob Roberts has recorded 13 saves in five appearances allowing just three goals.
Campbellsville is set to begin a stretch of seven-straight conferences matches before it finishes its season with a non-conference match at home against Oakland City University on Oct. 28.
Last season, Campbellsville defeated Georgetown at Finley Stadium, 8-0, with
Yudai Yamauchi recording a hat trick.
Kickoff from Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, Ky., is set for 8 p.m. ET, following the conclusion of the women's match.
