CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville women's volleyball team returns home for the first time in six matches to host Asbury University on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET inside the Powell Athletic Center.
The Lady Tigers have matched their best start in program history since 2008 with a 7-0 start to the season. Last time out, Campbellsville picked up its first Mid-South Conference victory of the season with a 3-1 win over University of the Cumberlands on the Tuesday night in Williamsburg, Ky.
Against the Patriots, Annija Abolina notched 24 kills for the Lady Tigers to lead the way, while Olivia Jarvis set a personal best with 11 kills and four blocks. Maliyah Tela notched 51 assists and Jessie Pendleton recorded 30 digs – both were match highs.
For the season, Abolina leads the team with 83 kills and Tela has captained Campbellsville with 260 assists. Tela's 10.8 assists per set ranks sixth in the NAIA, while the Lady Tigers have the eighth-best attacking percentage in the nation at .257.
Pendleton leads the back row for Campbellsville with 72 total digs and six digs per set. Julia Fonesca has compiled a team-high 21 blocks, while leading the Lady Tigers with a .430 attacking percentage.
Asbury comes into the match with a record of 5-1 and the Eagles have won their last four matches. Madeline Morris has notched a team-best 64 kills, while Kayla Morlan has chipped in with 60 kills and she leads the team with a .390 attacking percentage.
Through six matches this season, Asbury has combined for 19 blocks and a .174 hitting percentage. In their last match, the Eagles swept Cumberlands at home last week for its fourth-straight win.
Campbellsville and Asbury have not faced off since the 2012 season, when the Lady Tigers edged out the Eagles on the road, 3-2.
