CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Lady Tiger volleyball will welcome Fisk University and Xavier University of Louisiana to Campbellsville this Saturday for the Green River Classic.
Three matches will be played on Saturday at the Powell Athletic Center starting with Fisk and Xavier playing each other at 11 a.m. ET, followed by both CU matches at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. first against Fisk then against Xavier.
Campbellsville is coming off of back-to-back wins at home over the last two weeks. First was on Oct. 2 against Cumberland (3-2) in five sets then this past Tuesday against Pikeville (3-0) in a sweep.
The Lady Tigers have been strong on the attack in their last five sets, hitting for a .203 average with 66 kills in 200 attempts and 23 errors. Each match saw only one CU attacker reach double-digit kills as Sonia Flendrich recorded a career-high 17 against Cumberland and Maria Coelho notched 13 against Pikeville.
Fisk is 3-16 on the season with their three wins coming on the road. The lone sophomore on the roster, Skye Faucher, leads the team in kills (136) and total attacks (466) coming from the primary setter in freshman Brittany Henderson, who has 416 assists.
Xavier is tied for first in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, as they are undefeated at 8-0 within the conference and 17-4 overall. Sophomore Kayla Black is by far the go-to attacker for the Gold Nuggets with 251 kills in 671 attempts from primary setter Eva Le Guillou who has 685 assists.
After Saturday, the Lady Tigers will hit a long stretch of six-straight conference matches beginning with two road matches next week.
