Tiger golf leads NCCAA Championship field after opening round at The Conservatory

PALM COAST, Fla. — Campbellsville University men's golf shot a 300 in the opening round of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Golf Championship to sit in first place.

The Tigers out-paced Ottawa University out of Arizona by one stroke in the opening round to lead, 300-301. Erskine College currently sits in second place after firing a 304 in the first round.

The Tigers were led by Justin Warman and Seth Bohl. Warman was one-over after his first nine holes, carding one birdie on the par-four 14^thbut falling victim to a double bogey on the par-four 16^th.

The second-nine for Warman could have been a disaster but he finished strong. He took an eight on the par-four second hole but rallied with three birdies in his final five holes to finish the second-nine at just three-over par.

Bohl was pretty even keel all day. He bogeyed his first hole of the day but tallied nine straight pars before dropping two more shots with a pair of bogeys on the second and third holes.

He worked his score back to two-over after rolling in a birdie on the par-three eighth hole to finish with a 74.

Austin Mahoney and Jon Brewington are also in the Top 10 after firing first-round 76s. Mahoney carded a pair of birdies in his first-nine holes before dropping five shots on the second-nine to fall to 10^thplace.

Brewington also had a pair of birdies – but one on the front and one on the back. He fell victim to six bogeys overall.

Landon Connor shot a six-over 78 to sit in a tie for 21^stplace. He finished his first-nine holes at two-over but a double bogey on the par-four seventh hole hurt him on the second-nine.

Individually, Carter Lewis of Ottawa University leads the field after a four-under 68. Jake Montgomery of Columbia International and Isaac Wood of Cedarville University both shot even-par 72 to sit in a tie for second.

The Tigers get their second-round underway on Tuesday at 8:54 a.m. ET at The Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort.
