Withrow is tied for first; Five teams are within eight strokes at NCCAA Championship

PALM COAST, Fla. — Five teams are within eight strokes of each other after the opening round of the NCCAA Women's Golf National Championship and Campbellsville's Kylie Withrow is tied for the lead.

Lady Tiger golf fired an opening round 319 to sit in fourth place at The Conservatory Course, while Withrow fired a two-over 74 to be in a three-way tie for first.

The Lady Tigers (319) are seven strokes off the lead, as Biola University shot an opening-round 312. Erskine College is four strokes behind Biold, while Bethel College is in third by six strokes.

Individually, the Lady Tigers were led by Withrow's first-round 74. She rolled in three birdies during his first-round including the opening par-four first hole of the day.

Freshman Paige Ferguson had it going early but the final six holes at The Conservatory reared its ugly head. Ferguson was one-under par after 11 holes but played the final seven holes at seven-over par. The six-over 78 is a career-low for Ferguson as sits her in a tie for eighth place.

Michaela Jarman also sits in the Top 10 after an opening round 79. Jarman also started well on first-nine holes after birding No. 1 and No. 6 but fell victim to a double bogey on the par-four seventh. She was unable to find red numbers in the second nine and bogeyed six holes to fall back a touch.

Kristen Miller and Madison Ferrie struggled in their first round. Miller is in solo 37^thafter carding eight bogeys, a double and two triples for her 88.

Ferrie is tied for 39^thafter an opening-round 90. Like Miller, she was also unable to roll in a birdie in her first NCCAA Championship.

Biola's Sophia Kamazes and Bethel's Jaycee Bunner are both tied with Withrow atop the individual leaderboard with matching 74s.
