Tiger Football Returns To Action On The Road At Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Campbellsville football team will play for the first time in two weeks as they come out of their bye week to travel to No. 20 Georgetown College Saturday afternoon.

Kickoff between CU and GC is scheduled for 1:30 ET with the Tiger Tailgate Show beginning at 6:30. Fans can tune into the CU Sports Network on with Jim Freeman and Matt Payton for the action.

Last time out, CU beat Cumberland University 31-21 behind three touchdowns from Kendon Young and a late pick-six from BJay Pelt.

TIGER CLAWZ:

  • Campbellsville is looking to get to the .500 mark overall for the first time this season as they sit at a 3-4 record.
  • The Tigers are 2-2 while playing road games this season and won their last contest away from Finley Stadium - at Cumberland, 31-21.
  • CU is playing their first game in two weeks after being off last week. Last season, the Tigers won their game after the bye week, beating Bethel 43-37 on Sept. 30.
  • Campbellsville has won three of their last four games with their only loss coming on Homecoming against Bethel, 49-13. CU's margin of victory has gone up in every win this season after winning by one point against Point University (30-29), an eight-point win at KCU and a 10-point win against Cumberland.
  • After averaging more than 40 points per game the last four seasons, the Tigers are now scoring 21.3 points per game in 2018.
  • Kendon Young and Jordan Duff each caught over 100 yards of passes against Cumberland, the first time this season a pair of receivers have broken the century mark and Duff was the first receiver outside of Young to catch 100 yards worth of passes.
  • Young has 22 career receiving touchdowns - which moves him into 3rd in CU history behind Dem Gipson with 29 as Tyus Alcorn leads the way with 36 career TDs.
  • Defensive back BJay Pelt has 11 career interceptions - which ranks him tied for 4th in program history. William Mulder and Mark Carroll both lead CU football with 16. 

SERIES FACTS:

  • In the all-time series, Georgetown holds a 23-5 edge over Campbellsville.
  • GC and CU been playing each other in football since 1988, playing every year between now and then besides 2007, 2015 and 2016 while also meeting each other twice in 2001.
  • The Tigers have only won once at Georgetown in 14 meetings with the only win coming in the 1997 meeting as they won 38-21 on Nov. 15.
  • Over the last 10 meetings, Campbellsville has only won twice with both wins coming in Campbellsville, 21-14 on Oct. 24, 2009 and 28-24 on Oct. 11, 2014.
  • The last three meetings between the two teams have come down to one-score games with Georgetown winning in 2013 (19-14) and 2017 (31-24) with CU winning in 2014 (28-24)
  • The longest win streak in the series belongs to Georgetown. GC won 11-straight games between the 1998 and 2008 seasons including winning twice over CU in 2001, including a game in the NAIA Football Championship Series. The only time Campbellsville had a win-streak in the series was their two-game streak in 1996 and 1997.

SCOUTING GEORGETOWN COLLEGE:

  • Georgetown enters the week ranked 20th in the NAIA poll with a 5-3 record and 2-2 inside MSC Bluegrass play.
  • The Tigers have traded wins and losses in their last five games dating back to Sept. 22 with their two losses coming against fellow ranked Mid-South Conference teams Bethel and Lindsey Wilson.
  • Georgetown won their game last week against KCU 50-35, outgaining the Knights 598-497 and winning the time of possession battle 41:04-38:33.
  • The Tigers are led by Hunter Krause at QB. He is 120-of-217 with 1676 yards and 17 touchdowns on the year. He is also prone to turnovers with 12 interceptions on the year.
  • GC plans to have a somewhat balanced offensive attack that leans on the passing game with the Tigers having more rushing attempts on the season but more passing yards and touchdowns.
  • Defensively, GC allows 24.5 points per game and 356.6 yards per game.
