CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Fifth-ranked Martin Methodist scored three goals in the second half to out-pace Campbellsville women's soccer on Monday night, 4-0.
The Lady Tigers finish the regular season with an 11-7 record and will be the No. 4-seed in the upcoming Mid-South Conference Tournament.
Tonight, though, the Lady Tigers couldn't get their offense going. Martin Methodist out-shot CU 21-11 overall and Katelyn Young had a busy night in goal with nine saves.
After allowing only one goal in the first half, Young let three slip past her in the final 45 minutes. Natsuna Sugistita scored in the 17thminute but then the fifth-ranked RedHawks wouldn't score again until the 49thminute.
Millene Cabral scored unassisted to put MMC up 2-0 and CU hung around until the 74thminute. Miku Sunaga received a pass from Cabral to extend the RedHawks lead to 3-0 but just 3:05 later, Martin Methodist put the icing on the cake with Cabral's second goal and fifth point of the evening.
The fourth-seeded Lady Tigers will now play No. 5-seed Life University on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Bowling Green High School. A complete preview of the tournament will be posted on Wednesday.
