Men's and women's soccer set to host Hiwassee College and Oakland City for NCCAA Regional

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The National Christian College Athletic Association recently released that Campbellsville University men's and women's soccer will serve as the host for the Mid-East Regional Championships this weekend. 
 
The top-seeded Lady Tigers will host two-seeded Hiwassee College on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET for the Mid-East Regional finals. 
 
The nightcap will feature a neutral game at Citizens Bank Field and Finley Stadium. The Tigers are joined by Hiwassee College and Oakland City University in the three-team regional. Hiwassee and Oakland City will play on Friday evening at 7 p.m.
 
The winner of the men's semifinal will face Campbellsville on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET for the championship.

The winner of each regional will earn the Mid-East Regional's automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championship in Kissimmee, Florida – which is scheduled for Nov. 26 – Dec. 1 in Kissimmee, Fla. at Austin-Tindall Soccer Complex.
 
On the women's side, Hiwassee College enters with a 7-9 record but has won its last two games over Warren Wilson and Oakwood University. 

On the men's side, the Hiwassee College Tigers boast a 9-10 record and have won two of its last three games. Oakland City enters the weekend with a 9-8 record. The Oaks have won six of their last eight games, including a 3-1 win over Midway, 2-1 over Brescia, 2-1 over Lindenwood-Belleville.
 

Men's Soccer in the NCCAA
  • The Tigers won the 2013 Mid-East Regional, which was also played at home, 2-1 over Lee University. 
  • The Tigers played in the NCCAA Regional last year and lost to Bluefield College, 1-0. But CU still earned an at-large bid to the NCCAA Championship. 
  • In the 2016 season, the Tigers earned an at-large bid to the championship as well and went 1-1 inside Pool Play. 
  • CU has reached the NCCAA Championship Tournament five times in program history – 2008, 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2017. 
Women's Soccer in the NCCAA
  • The last appearance in the NCCAA Championship for Lady Tiger soccer was in 2016 when the Lady Tigers went 1-2 inside Pool Play.
  • The 2014 season saw the most success in the NCCAA Championship as the Lady Tigers lost to Lee University in the semifinal round, 3-0. 
  • In the 2014 year, CU went 2-0 inside Pool Play, including a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Houghton College. 
  • The last regional the Lady Tigers played in was 2013 at Lee University. Campbellsville went 0-1-1 inside that tournament by tying Mississippi College, 2-2, and lost to the host Flames, 7-0.
