CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville women's volleyball will continue their season as they begin their road to an NCCAA National Championship Friday night in Madisonville, Tenn. in the Mid-East Regional.
The Lady Tigers last played on Nov. 9 dropping the Mid-South Conference championship game to NAIA No. 6 Lindsey Wilson College 3-1. CU took the first set by a big margin of 25-12 but could not carry the momentum over as the Blue Raiders won the next three sets.
In the NCCAA Mid-East Regional, Campbellsville is the top seed and will face the winner of the opening game between the two and three seeds in Hiwassee College and Oakland City University.
The Tigers of Hiwassee have a 9-17 record on the season and enter the tournament on a three-match losing streak. Sophomore Courtney Jones is their leader in kills on the season with 270, averaging almost four kills per set with a .337 hitting percentage.
The Mighty Oaks of Oakland City are 13-9 so far in 2018, winning their last match against Boyce College in a sweep on Oct. 27. Sophomore Kristin Schorr is their top attacker as an outside hitter with 258 kills and a 2.47 hitting percentage.
The match between Hiwassee and Oakland City will begin at 5:00 p.m. ET with the Lady Tigers playing the winner at 8:00 p.m. ET. A win in the regional championship will move CU into the National Championship rounds in Point Lookout, Mo. from Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
