Madison Kaiser drops 18 in 91-58 home opening win over Davis and Elkins College

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Madison Kaiser scored a season-high 18 points and four other Lady Tigers scored in double figures to lead third-ranked Campbellsville to a 91-58 win over Davis and Elkins College.

The win was the home opener for Campbellsville as the Lady Tigers improve to 5-0 on the year. In addition to Kaiser, Savannah Gregory had a season-high 16 points and swiped six steals to lead CU's defensive effort. Campbellsville had 26 steals on the day and forced 31 turnovers.

Madison Faulkner (11), Alexus Calhoun (10) and Jordan Doram (10) all finished in double-figures. Faulkner finished one rebound away from a double-double with nine.

Kaiser had a stellar day, especially in the first half. She scored eight of the first 12 points and the rout was on early. At the 4:55 mark of the opening quarter, Shyla Calbert nailed the third 3-pointer for the Lady Tigers to put CU ahead, 17-7.

Including the 3 by Calbert, Campbellsville stepped up its defense and finished the opening frame leading, 24-10 -- a 15-3 run. During that span, Kaiser nailed a couple 3s - including one just ahead of the buzzer.

The 3s kept pouring in for Campbellsville in the opening half. Caitlin Hall hit a triple with 7:15 left – the sixth of the day to that point – which was a season-high just 13+ minutes into the game. Kaiser extended that to seven 3s at the 5:04 mark to put CU ahead, 38-18, with her fourth triple.

Sammy Rogers kept the hot shooting alive late in the half with her first triple. Campbellsville was 8-of-11 (72.7%) from deep in the first half.

After leading 48-21 at halftime, the lead stayed above 25 points the rest of the day and grew to as large as 41 with 5:41 left in the fourth after a Calbert steal and layup.

Overall, Campbellsville finished hitting 8-of-15 (53%) from 3-point land and 34-of-77 (44%) overall.

The Lady Tigers now will travel to the third-annual NAIA Invitational in Jackson, Tennessee at Oman Arena. CU will play Columbia College and Martin Methodist on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 23-24.
