BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – For the second-straight season, Campbellsville women's volleyball finishes the Mid-South Conference Tournament as the runner-up to Lindsey Wilson College.
CU dominated the first set of the match, winning 25-12 behind 15 team kills and a team hitting percentage of .267. Despite the Lady Tigers jumping out to an early 1-0 lead in the match, the Blue Raiders answered by winning the next three sets by 10 or more points.
In the following sets, LWC won 25-13, 25-12 and 25-15 hitting better than .200 on the attack in every set. As much the Blue Raiders hit well, the Lady Tigers struggled on the attack hitting for percentages of .038 in the second, -.100 in the third and .037 in the fourth.
Maria Coelho had a tournament to remember with 15 kills in the championship match. Coelho either led the team or tied for the team lead in kills for all three tournament matches with 17 in the first two matches against Shawnee State and Georgetown.
Settter
Paige Merrick also recorded a double-double in the match with 27 assists and 13 digs. There were few bright spots though for the Lady Tigers though as no other CU attacker had more than six kills in the match.
CU's record is now at 23-9 after the completion of the Mid-South Conference tournament. The Lady Tigers' season is not necessarily over as they will wait to see if they earn an at-large big in the NAIA Tournament or the NCCAA Tournament.
