Kendon Young earns spot on NAIA All-America Team as Honorable Mention

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – CU Fighting Tigers' football earned one more post-season honor as junior Kendon Young was named to the 2018 NAIA All-America Team as an honorable mention.

Young was the only Campbellsville football player to earn a spot on the All-America teams after he, along with four others, was named to the All Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division teams. Young was also designated as an all-purpose player opposed to his natural position as a wide receiver.

The hometown receiver from Campbellsville, Young was the all-purpose offensive leader for the Tigers in 2018. His 1,233 all-purpose yards almost doubled the second-best CU player in that category. In fact, Young's team-leading 886 receiving yards was more than any other player's all-purpose total. Adding 250 yards rushing yards were good enough for second on the team and he also added 97 yards on kick return to average 123.3 all-purpose yards per game.

Kendon had seven of the 10 CU football games with over 100 all-purpose yards and one of the three under was an 82-yard performance. His best all-purpose performance of the season was when he notched 230 total yards in the Fighting Tigers' win over Point University. Young caught six passes for 187 yards and rushed eight times for 43 yards.

Young had four games with over 100 yards receiving and had a rush attempt in all but one game, gaining positive rushing yards in all of those games. He only had five total kick returns that came in only two games this season but he gained 97 total kick return yards for an average of almost 20 yards per return.

Young will be returning for his senior season in 2019 as CU will look to bounce back from their 4-6 record in 2018.
