Men's golf struggles in opening round of spring and sits in 13th at Georgetown Invite

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — In the first tournament of the spring, Campbellsville men's golf struggled out of the gates on Monday morning and was never able to recover at the Georgetown College Invitational.
 
The Tigers sit in 13th place after firing a 32-over 320 in the opening round at The Slammer and the Squire.
 
Freshman Austin Mahoney leads the way after shooting seven-over 79 in the opening round but the remaining four Tigers were in the 80s.
 
Sophomore Justin Warman and teammate Seito Miyazaki are tied for 50th after an opening round 80. Justin Riffle is one stroke back after an 81, while Tyler Harrod rounds out CU's Top 5 with an opening round 86.
 
Coastal Georgia's Jackson Lawlow carded the lowest round of the day with a four-under 68 to sit atop the leaderboard. Teammate Kyle Kidd is tied with P.J. Shields (Dalton State) and Santiago Zubiate (Southeastern) with matching 69s. Carlos Ardila (Southeastern) rounds out the Top 5 with a two-under 70.
 
Coastal Georgia leads the team scores by 10 strokes after firing a 279. Dalton State sits in second place with a 289 and Southeastern is close behind at 290.
 
The Tigers will tee-off at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday morning as the field will go off with a shotgun start at The Slammer and the Squire.
