Gregory splashes four 3s in Lady Tigers' opening round win over Georgetown

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger basketball held Georgetown to only one third quarter field to break the opening round game of the Mid-South Conference Tournament wide open, leading to a 85-64 Campbellsville win.
 
The win moves the Lady Tigers to the semifinal of the MSC Tournament, which CU will play the winner of three-seed Lindsey Wilson and sixth-seeded University of the Cumberlands. Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday, March 3 at Noon ET.
 
Campbellsville (27-4) allowed only four third-quarter points for Georgetown and led 72-37 after the third. Georgetown rallied late by out-scoring CU 27-13 in the final quarter, but it was too little too late.
 
Lexxus Graham and Savannah Gregory both tallied 14 points, as Gregory drained four 3-pointers and Graham followed with two. The Lady Tigers finished with 10 made triples – the second highest mark of the season (11 vs. Life).
 
Caitlin Hall was a passing machine, dishing out seven assists. CU also scored 40 points off 27 Georgetown turnovers. CU finished with 19 steals and dished out 15 assists on 30 made buckets.
 
Both teams started on fire in the first quarter, but it was the Lady Tigers leading by 10, 27-17.
 
Georgetown cut the lead to two, 19-17, but with 1:00 left in the frame, Lexxus Graham buried her second 3 and was followed with a triple by redshirt freshman Savannah Gregory. To end the period, Caitlin Hall picked up her third assist and found Jordan Doram for her eighth point to give CU an 8-0 run and 10-point advantage.
 
Campbellsville used the long ball once again in the second frame, as Graham found Caitlin Hall for a triple and Gregory followed with her second 3 to put CU ahead, 39-28.
 
Cristin Hall matched the Lady Tigers' largest lead with a runner off glass putting CU ahead, 46-31. Her twin sister, Caitlin Hall, used an extra pass on the final possession of the first half to find Madison Clements for a 15-foot jumper and CU led by 15 at the break, 48-33.
 
In the first half, the Lady Tigers forced 16 turnovers and scored 28 points off those. CU also out-rebounded Georgetown, 16-8, in the first 20 minutes.
 
The third quarter was the dagger for Georgetown. Campbellsville held Georgetown to only hitting one field goal in the third quarter and CU kept the pedal to the floor as Gregory hit her third and fourth 3s. Cristin Hall got in on the action by swishing her first triple to put CU ahead, 70-37.
 
Campbellsville out-scored Georgetown by 20 points, 24-4, and led 72-37 after the period.
 
Coach Colvin was able to play a few reserves in the final period. Cristin Hall buried her second 3 and Madison Kaiser nailed another for the 10th triple of the day for CU.
 
Kennedy Flynn led Georgetown (8-22) with 20 points, while Shelby Beam ended her career with 11 points.
